During the unprecedented economic prosperity of the mid-late 2000’s, many property managers lost sight of the basics of managing real estate. Prior to the crash, property management required less vision and many firms downplayed strategic planning and attention to operating costs.
Sloppy management was forgiven by the prosperity that produced record revenues throughout our economy. Managers were able to hide their shortcomings as market conditions pushed occupancies and rents to record levels.
Since the last downturn, the changing dynamics of our economy forced the real estate industry to return to the basics. Value became a function of net income. Managing income properties once again became similar to running a small or large business.
As with any business, no two properties are the same. A cookie cutter approach to management will not work, and so we apply a thoroughly customized approach to every property.

With a 40+ year track record in property management, Brookside Properties, Inc. has the people, the processes, and the experience of creating and retaining value in our properties not only during the boom years, but also through the lean ones. Our process begins with a complete, rigorous analysis of each property. We listen to the owner’s goals and objectives. Then, we formulate our plan and establish the road map for each property, tailored to meet the needs of each property owner.
We implement a two tiered management approach with a system of checks and balances. First, we empower our property managers to successfully operate each property in accordance with a budget, jointly established by our property managers, Brookside’s senior management, and the property owner. Second, senior management systematically tracks each property’s results weekly to ensure that we stay focused on the problems and opportunities which must be addressed in order to both control expenses and maximize revenue.
